I officiate volleyball from junior high up through college. Many of those stands for the R1 are not padded. This is by far the most comfortable mat I have found for using on those stands. And for tournaments, its an absolute like saver! If you run into a stand that is slanted forward, just put your toes on the pad, and let your heel be on the stand. It levels your position and saves your back and knees!!!
